İntragastrik Balon Tedavisi ve Hemşirenin Rolü

Öz

Obezite ve komplikasyonları dünya çapında bir sorundur. Tedavisinde farklı müdahaleler kullanılmaktadır. Bunlar arasında yaşam tarzı değişikliği, ilaç tedavisi, intragastrik balon ve bariatrik cerrahi sayılabilir. Bariatrik cerrahi en etkili kilo kaybı yöntemlerinden olmasına rağmen; invaziv bir işlemdir ve beden kitle indeksi 35 ila 40 kg/m2 arasında olup eşlik eden hastalığı olmayan obez hastalar için uygun değildir. İntragastrik balon tedavisi, bariatrik cerrahi için uygun olmayan ancak yaşam tarzı değişikliği ve ilaç tedavisi ile yeterli kilo kaybını elde edemeyen hastalar için alternatif bir seçenektir. Bu derlemede intragastrik balon tedavisi ve obez bireylerin bu süreçteki bakım gereksinimlerini karşılayan hemşirelerin rolü literatür ışığında ele alınmıştır.

Intragastric Balloon Treatment and the Role of the Nurse

Öz

Obesity and its complications constitute a global health issue. Various interventions are employed in its management, including lifestyle modification, pharmacotherapy, intragastric balloon, and bariatric surgery. Although bariatric surgery is one of the most effective methods for weight loss, it is an invasive procedure and is not suitable for obese patients with a body mass index (BMI) between 35 and 40 kg/m2 without comorbid conditions. The intragastric balloon therapy serves as an alternative for patients who are not candidates for bariatric surgery but have not achieved sufficient weight loss through lifestyle changes and medication. This review addresses the intragastric balloon therapy and the pivotal role of nurses in meeting the care needs of obese individuals throughout this process, in light of the current literature.
