Satisfaction Level of Surgical Patients with Discharge Education and Affecting Factors

This study was conducted to determine the satisfaction levels of surgical patients with discharge education and the influencing factors. The research was conducted between June and November 2024. A total of 138 patients who met the inclusion criteria participated in the study. Data were collected using a Patient Information Form and Discharge Education Satisfaction Scale. Descriptive statistics, independent sample t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and correlation tests were used in the data analysis. Significance was evaluated at a p<0.05 level. The average total score of the patients on the scale was determined to be 95.74±10.84, indicating very high levels of satisfaction. It was found that 58.8% of the patients received discharge education from a physician, 62% conducted individual research after discharge, and 49.3% used the internet and social media for this research. The status of being a healthcare worker was identified as the only significant variable affecting the satisfaction levels (p<0.05). No significant effect was found for other variables on the scale scores (p>0.05). The study demonstrates that surgical patients are highly satisfied with discharge education, and that being a healthcare worker is an important factor influencing this satisfaction. It was observed that patients frequently use the internet and social media platforms in their post-discharge information-seeking behavior. It is recommended to implement individualized discharge education programs, provide reliable health information sources on digital platforms, supply discharge education materials in both written and visual formats to patients, and regularly evaluate the effectiveness of discharge education programs.

Cerrahi Hastalarının Taburculuk Eğitiminden Memnuniyet Düzeyi ve Etkileyen Faktörler

Öz

Bu çalışma cerrahi hastalarının taburculuk eğitiminden memnuniyet düzeylerini ve etkileyen faktörleri belirlemek amacıyla yapıldı. Araştırma Haziran-Kasım 2024 tarihleri arasında gerçekleştirildi. Çalışmaya dahil edilme kriterlerini karşılayan toplam 138 hasta katıldı. Veriler Hasta Bilgi Formu ve Taburculuk Eğitimi Memnuniyet Ölçeği kullanılarak toplandı. Veri analizinde tanımlayıcı istatistikler, bağımsız örneklem t-testleri, tek yönlü ANOVA ve korelasyon testleri kullanıldı. Anlamlılık p<0,05 düzeyinde değerlendirildi. Hastaların ölçekten aldıkları toplam puan ortalaması 95,74±10,84 olarak belirlenmiş olup, çok yüksek düzeyde taburculuk eğitimi memnuniyetine işaret etmektedir. Hastaların %58,8'inin hekimden taburculuk eğitimi aldığı, %62'sinin taburculuk sonrası bireysel araştırma yaptığı ve %49,3'ünün bu araştırma için internet ve sosyal medyayı kullandığı saptandı. Sağlık çalışanı olma durumu memnuniyet düzeylerini etkileyen tek anlamlı değişken olarak belirlendi (p<0,05). Diğer değişkenlerin ölçek puanları üzerinde anlamlı bir etkisi bulunmadı (p>0,05). Çalışma, cerrahi hastalarının taburculuk eğitiminden yüksek oranda memnun olduğunu ve sağlık çalışanı olmanın bu memnuniyeti etkileyen önemli bir faktör olduğunu göstermektedir. Hastaların taburculuk sonrası bilgi arama davranışlarında internet ve sosyal medya platformlarını sıklıkla kullandıkları görüldü. Bireyselleştirilmiş taburculuk eğitim programlarının uygulanması, dijital platformlarda güvenilir sağlık bilgi kaynaklarının sağlanması, hastalara hem yazılı hem de görsel formatta taburculuk eğitim materyallerinin sağlanması ve taburculuk eğitim programlarının etkinliğinin düzenli olarak değerlendirilmesi önerilmektedir.
