Temporal Dislocation and Nostalgia in What Have You Seen, Stockholm?

This study examines the theme of nostalgia in the novel Stokholmê Te Çi Dîtîye Bêje (Stokholm What Have You Seen Tell Me) by Bavê Nazê. Following the military coup of 1980 in Turkey, many Kurds who had been involved in political activities emigrated to Sweden. As their organizations dissolved, they channeled their energy and motivation into language and literature, forming a significant phase in Kurdish literature that is often referred to as a literary school. Because these writers lived in exile, longing for their homeland and the past, they wrote about their country and personal experiences in a nostalgic manner. In this study, we examine the nostalgia present in the novel Stokholm What Have You Seen Tell Me. The protagonist, Bêkes, portrayed as a suspect in the assassination of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme, nostalgically recalls his experiences in his homeland and the advice of his parents. Through these memories, he attempts to free himself from his troubles. This study is analyzed with the help of theories by scholars such as Svetlana Boym, Fred Davis and Barbara Stern. The nostalgia in this novel emerges in four categories: social-cultural nostalgia, place and nature nostalgia and youth and love nostalgia. This nostalgia is employed as a mechanism for protecting identity and as a refuge against the hardships of exile.

Ev lêkolîn li ser mijara nostaljiyê di romana Bavê Nazê ya bi navê Stokholmê Te Çi Dîtîye Bêje de hatiye kirin. Piştî derbeya leşkerî ya 1980’yî li Tirkiyê, gelek kurdên ku di nav kar û barên siyasî de bûn, çûn Swêdê. Ji ber ku rêxistinên wan ji hev belav bûn, enerjî û motîvasyona xwe dan ziman û edebîyatê û di edebiyata kurdî de qonaxek ku gelek caran weke ekolekê tê bi navkirin, ava kirin. Ji ber ku ev nivîskar li sirgûnê bûn, bêriya welêt û demên borî dikirin, di berhemên wan de welat û serboriyên xwe bi awayekî nostaljîk nivîsîn. Di vê xebatê de, em li ser nostaljiya romana Stokholmê Te Çi Dîtiye Bêje dixebitin. Lehengê sereke Bêkes ku bi şika kuştina serokwezîrê Swêdê, Olof Palme tê îfadekirin, serboriyên xwe yên welêt û şîretên dê û bavê xwe bi awayekî nostaljîk bi bîr tîne. Bi van bîranînan hewl dide ku xwe pirsgirêkên xwe rizgar bike. Em vê lêkolînê bi alîkariya teoriyên zanyarên weke Svetlana Boym, Fred Davis û Barbara Stern analîz dikin. Nostaljiya di vê romanê de di çar kategoriyan de; wekî nostaljiya civakê-çandê, a mekan-xwezayê û ya ciwanî û evînê derdikeve holê. Ev nostaljî weke mekanîzmayeke parastina nasnameyê û stargehek li dijî zehmetiyên sirgûnê hatiye bikaranîn.

Stokholmê Te Çi Dîtîye Bêje Romanında Geçici Yersiz Yurtsulzuk ve Nostalji

Öz

Bu çalışma, Bavê Nazê'nin Stokholmê Te Çi Dîtîye Bêje (Stokholm Ne Gördün Söyle) adlı romanında nostalji temasını incelemektedir. Türkiye'de 1980 askeri darbesinin ardından siyasi faaliyetler içinde yer alan pek çok Kürt, İsveç'e göç etmiştir. Örgütlerinin dağılmasıyla birlikte enerjilerini ve motivasyonlarını dile ve edebiyata yönelten bu yazarlar, Kürt edebiyatında memleketi ve geçmiş zamanları özlemle andıklarından, eserlerinde anı ve kendi yaşadıkları olayları nostaljik bir biçimde kaleme almışlardır. Bu çalışmada Stokholm Ne Gördün Söyle romanında nostaljinin nasıl ortaya çıktığı çalışılmaktadır. Başkahramanı Bêkes, İsveç Başbakanı Olof Palme suikastının şüphelisi olarak ifade vermekte; memleketteki anıları ve anne babasının öğütlerini nostaljik bir duyguyla yeniden hatırlamaktadır. Bu anılar aracılığıyla sorunlarından kurtulmaya çalışmaktadır. Çalışma, Svetlana Boym, Fred Davis ve Barbara Stern gibi kuramcıların teorileri yardımıyla analiz edilmektedir. Romandaki nostalji toplumsal-kültürel nostalji, mekân ve doğa nostaljisi, gençlik ve aşk nostaljisi olmak üzere üç kategoride karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bu nostalji, kimliği koruma mekanizması ve sürgün hayatı sorunlarıyla başedebilmek amacıyla bir sığınak olarak işlev görmektedir.
