This study examined the chemical composition of the essential oil extracted from the bark of Alseodaphne peduncularis Meisn. (Lauraceae) by hydrodistillation with 0.2% yield. The essential oil was chemically characterised by gas chromatography-flame ionization detector and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, and 31 constituents comprising 94.3% of the total oil content were identified. These constituents included β-caryophyllene (24.5%), viridiflorol (12.3%), δ-cadinene (9.8%), and bicyclogermacrene (4.2%), respectively. The tested essential oil showed moderate in vitro lipoxygenase activity with an IC50 = 60.2 μg/mL. To the best of our knowledge, there is no report and study on the bark part of this species.
