AIRBAGS: AN OVERVIEW

Öz

Over the last decade, safety restraint systems in automobiles have progressively gained attention. Airbags are the most important automotive safety products, since they have proven to increase the safety of passengers in a variety of ways. There is no doubt that airbags save lives and the number of lives saved has increased year by year. Aside from saving lives, the airbag has also led to a new market in automotive safety. The airbag module consists of an inflator with an initiator, a textile cushion and housing. In this paper historical background of airbags, detailed explanations of fabric types used for airbags and their properties, and finishing processes are overviewed.
