Bu çaly?manyn amacy dil ö?retim materyallerinin ilkö?retim ö?rencilerinin Yngilizce derslerindeki ba?arylaryna etkisini incelemektir. Bu çaly?ma ayny zamanda geleneksel ö?retim yöntemleri ile dil ö?retim materyalleri kullanymyny kar?yla?tyrmaktadyr. Bu çaly?mada, dil ö?retim materyallerinin çocuklara Yngilizce ö?retimi üzerine etkisini incelemek amacyyla kontrol gruplu öntest-sontest deneysel ara?tyrma modeli kullanylmy?tyr. Denekler, Konya ili Meram Atatürk Ylkö?retim okulunda okuyan 76 be?inci synyf ö?rencisinden olu?maktadyr. Ara?tyrma 2003-2004 ö?retim yyly bahar yaryyylynda yapylmy?tyr. Okulda sadece iki tane be?inci synyf bulundu?undan, rastgele seçim yöntemi ile birisi deney grubu (n=41) di?eri de kontrol grubu (n=35) olarak belirlenmi?tir. Deney grubunda dersler dil ö?retim materyalleri kullanylarak ö?retilirken kontrol grubunda ise geleneksel ö?retim yöntemleri kullanylmy?tyr. Her iki gruba da çaly?ma öncesi öntest ve uygulama sonrasy sontest uygulanarak veriler ba?ymsyz de?i?kenler t-testi uygulanarak analiz edilmi?tir. Sonuç olarak, deney grubundaki ö?rencilerin kontrol grubundaki ö?rencilere oranla daha yüksek not aldyklary ortaya çykmy?tyr.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of language teaching materials on young learners' achievement level in English classes. This study also provides an opportunity to compare traditional teaching and teaching through language teaching materials. In the present study, a pretest-posttest control group design was used to examine the effect of language teaching materials on teaching English to young learners. The subjects of this study consisted of 76 fifth-grade primary school students attending Atatürk Primary School in Meram, Konya. The study was carried out during the spring semester of 2003-2004 academic year. Since there were only two fifth-grade classes, one of them was randomly assigned as experimental group (n=41) and the other as control (n=35). In the experimental group, the lesson was taught through language teaching materials while it was taught by using traditional teaching methods in the control group. Both groups were pre-tested and post-tested and the data were analyzed by using t-test. The results revealed that students in the experimental group got higher scores than the ones in the control group.
