Bu makale, Yngiliz Edebiyatynda 20. yy son dönemlerinde, Peter Ackroyd'un Chatterton ve A. S. Byatt'yn Possession: A Romance adly romanlarynda görüldü?ü gibi, yazarlaryn geçmi? ve günümüz arasyndaki geçi?ler yoluyla zaman ve konu açy?yndan eserlere ele?tirel ve ironik bir yakla?ym getirerek romanlary synyrsyzla?tyrdyklaryny ortaya koymaktadyr. Zaman ve mekan synyrlarynyn ortadan kalmasy ayny zamanda geçmi?te gizli kalmy? gerçeklerin açy?a çykmasyna sebep olur. Geçmi? ve günümüz arasy geçi?lerle muhtemelen gizli kalmy? gerçekler açy?a çykacaktyr. Ayny zamanda, böyle bir yakla?ymy takip ederek gelecekte geçmi?in tekrarynyn beklenmedik olaylaryn tekerrür etmesiyle mümkün olabilece?ini göstermeyi amaçlamaktadyrlar.

This article explores how writers become critical and ironic while forming boundlessness in timing and plot constructions in the transitions between past and present in substantial fictional works such as Peter Ackroyd's Chatterton and A. S. Byatt's Possession: A Romance in the late twentieth century in English literary canon . Through its boundlessness, a fictional work becomes the cause for the revelation of previous unknown realities in the present. Through applying an interdisciplinary study of historical artifacts and realm of fiction simultaneously, Ackroyd and Byatt choose a double setting of past and present via intending an ironic and critical approach to historical events. Throughout such an approach for analysis, it will be possible to indicate that past and present transactions relatively reveal hidden facts. In Chatterton, Ackroyd explores historical commitments of past and present to analyze the themes of reality and illusion, truth and falsity, mortality and immortality. On the other hand, Byatt deals with the issues of love and independence between two lovers by means of collecting significant historical cultural artifacts and incorporates many different styles and devices as well as poetry and diary to make those artifacts vivid in Possession. These two novelists go beyond solely analyzing contemporary events through the transition between past and present by means of interdisciplinary studies and, thereby, prove that the novel is unlimited in timing and plot construction. Such an outlook also signifies how history repeats itself in unexpected present events.
