In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the views of employees serving as the caregivers of old people developing in our country recently about the profession and vocational training. The questionnaire was applied to the caregivers of old people working at SGK Izmir Narlidere Rest and Nursing Home before the in-service training program. 62.7% of 75 caregivers accepting to participate in the study were women and 37.3% of them were men. The age average was 29.59 ± 10.04 year (18-60 age), 65.3% of them graduated from high school. While 94.6% of them recommended their profession to the others, 58.6% of them chose this profession since they liked to care for people. 72% of them assessed the profession as enjoyable, 53.3% of them assessed it as tiring. 68% of them have not received professional training before. 52.1% of them wanted psychologists and 40% of them wanted social workers other than nurses and doctors to be the trainers. 54.7% of them agreed that the training provided increased the job opportunities. In general, 95.9% of them required the vocational training. The caregivers of old people are the ones mostly completing secondary education and enjoying caring people. They qualified their job as pleasant but tiring. Although the number of people receiving vocation training is not very high, most of them think that these trainings will increase the job opportunities and consider them as necessary. They require that employees other than doctors and nursing and working for health and rehabilitation of old people should be the trainers in these trainings.

Daha önce mesleki e?itim alan ki?i sayysynyn azly?yna kar?yn, ço?unlu?u bu e?itimlerin i? olanaklaryny arttyraca?y dü?üncesini ta?ymakta ve gerekli bulmaktadyr. Bu e?itimlerde doktor ve hem?ire dy?ynda ya?ly sa?ly?y ve rehabilitasyonu hizmetinde yer alan di?er çaly?anlaryn da e?itici olmasyny gerekli görmektedirler.
