A New Approach in Safety Culture: Safety Coaching

Öz

There are many parameters that affect the safety culture, which is a part of the organizational culture. The most important of these are the values, beliefs and assumptions of the employees. It will be necessary to analyze behavior of employee and study on unsafe behaviors in building and developing a safety culture. At this point, coaching comes into play. With the safety coaching to be applied to contribute to the safety culture in a workplace, it can be ensured that both the employer and the employees adopt this culture and establish a trust-based communication. Instead of the order control approach from top-down, the safety coaching approach enables individuals to discover their potential by taking their values into account. In this study, an extensive literature search was conducted on safety culture, behavior based safety, human factors analysis and classification system, coaching and safety coaching. The contribution of safety coaching to high performance safety culture was discussed. At the same time, a systematic approach has been put forward in which safety coaching, behavior based safety and human factors analysis and classification system can be used together

Güvenlik Kültüründe Yeni Bir Yaklaşım: Güvenlik Koçluğu

Öz

Örgüt kültürünün bir parçası olan güvenlik kültürünü etkileyen birçok parametre vardır. Bunların başında çalışanların değerleri, inançları, varsayımları gibi hususlar gelmektedir. Güvenlik kültürü oluşturmada ve geliştirmede çalışan davranışlarını analiz etmek ve güvensiz davranışlar üzerinde çalışmak gerekecektir. Tam bu noktada koçluk devreye girmektedir. Bir işletmede güvenlik kültürüne katkı sağlamak için uygulanacak güvenlik koçluğu ile hem işverenin hem çalışanların süreci sahiplenmesi ve güvene dayalı bir iletişim kurulması sağlanabilir. Yukardan emir kontrol yaklaşımı yerine güvenlik koçluğu yaklaşımı ile kişilerin değerleri göz önüne alınarak içlerindeki potansiyeli keşfetmeleri sağlanır. Bu çalışma ile güvelik kültür, davranış odaklı güvenlik, insan faktörleri analizi ve sınıflandırma sistemi, koçluk ve güvenlik koçluğuna ilişkin geniş bir literatür taraması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Güvenlik koçluğunun, yüksek performanslı güvenlik kültürüne olan katkısı ele alınmıştır. Aynı zamanda güvenlik koçluğu, davranış odaklı güvenlik ve insan faktörleri analizi ve sınıflandırma sisteminin birlikte kullanılabileceği sistematik bir yaklaşım ortaya konmuştur.
