Öz

'What is sociology? The adventure of becoming a 'sociologist', which is a long and complicated road that starts with the question, is undoubtedly a difficult process. Because the way society evaluates sociology and even the sociologist and the limits of job opportunities in the field are the main issues that affect the process. It is very important for the sociologist to have a critical, courageous and questioning attitude, enabling the rethinking of the current situation and carrying out an in-depth research and understanding effort on the subject. As a result of this attitude of the sociologist, perhaps it is possible for the questions about 'what purpose' sociology is to gain clarity. For Berger and Kellner, who reach the reader with these basic views, in the current study, ideas are given about what sociologists should do in addition to what they do.

Sosyolojiyi Yeniden Yorumlamak Yöntem ve Meslek Üzerine Bir Deneme

Öz

‘Sosyoloji nedir? sorusu ile başlayan, uzun ve çetrefilli bir yol olan ‘sosyolog’ olma serüveni, şüphesiz ki zor bir süreçtir. Zira toplumun sosyolojiyi ve hatta sosyoloğu değerlendirme biçimi ve alana dair iş imkanlarının sınırları, süreci etkileyen temel hususlardandır. Mevcut olanın yeniden düşünülmesini sağlayan, konuya dair derinlikli bir araştırma ve anlama çabası yürüten sosyolog için eleştirel, cesur ve sorgulayıcı nitelikte bir tavır sahibi olmak oldukça önemlidir. Sosyoloğun bu tutumu neticesinde, belki de sosyolojinin ‘ne işe yaradığına’ dair olan sorgulamaların netlik kazanması imkan dahilindedir. Bu temel görüşlerle okura ulaşan Berger ve Kellner için mevcut çalışmada, sosyologların ne yaptıklarına ek olarak ne yapmaları gerektiğine dair fikirler de verilmiştir.
