INVESTIGATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP MINDFULNESS-BASED SELF-EFFICACY, SELF-COMPASSION AND HAPPINESS LEVELS IN CHILDREN

Yıl 2024, Cilt: 20 Sayı: 1, 69 - 109

Öz

Aim: This study aimed to determine the relationship between mindfulness-based self-efficacy, self-compassion and happiness levels of children between the ages of 10 and 13. In this context, the relationships between the socio-demographic characteristics of the children participating in the study and their levels of mindfulness-based self-efficacy, self-compassion and happiness were examined.
Method: The research was designed quantitatively. It consists of 266 children between the ages of 10-13. The valid and reliable Conscious-Awareness-Based Self-Efficacy Scale-Revised (BFÖS-Y), Self-Compassion Scale Short Form (PSS-K), School Children's Happiness Inventory (CSME) and the demographic questionnaire prepared by the researcher are the data collection tools of the research. SPSS 23 package program was used in the statistical evaluation of the data and the statistically significant value was determined as p <0.05. Independent samples t-test, One-Way Analysis of Variance ANOVA, correlation and regression analysis were used.
Findings: According to the results of the research, there is a positive and significant relationship between mindfulness-based self-efficacy, self-compassion and happiness levels in children. Accordingly, as children's awareness-based self-efficacy and self-compassion levels increase, their happiness levels increase. Significant differences were found between children's mindfulness-based self-efficacy, self-compassion and happiness levels according to age, gender, mother and father's education level, and whether they are together or apart.
Implications: It is thought that investigating mindfulness-based self-efficacy and self-compassion in children will contribute to intervention-based studies on this subject.
Originality: The research is the first study on conscious awareness in Kırklareli.
