Online manuscript submision and review process:

Performance and Exercise in Sports (PASE) is the official publication of Ankara University Sports Application and Research Center (ASPAM). PASE is published twice a year in English. PASE publishes original research, systematic and narrative reviews and meta-analyses, symposia, research notes, technical and methodological reports that contribute to knowledge about sports science. All decisions made by editors about publications are final. The publications are published according to the quality, importance, clarity, style and order of the publication sent according to the objectives and purposes of ASPAM and the Journal.

PASE editors will directly reject an article before review if it is considered low impact in the field, outside the scope of the journal, incorrect or poor design, and/or poorly written. In addition, even if it has been submitted to the referee and has gone through any revisions, it may still be rejected if the requests of the referees, field editors or editor-in-chief are not adequately met. The format of the article is of great importance, the articles that do not comply with the journal writing format will be directly rejected.

- Editorial mission statement:
The most important feature of PASE is the inclusion of recommendations for application in published research. This journal wishes to encourage research that can be directly applied to the field of exercise and sports science. Exercise and sports science includes a very large and diverse population, from children to adults, the elderly, youth and professional athletes. It is of great importance for practitioners to know and understand how many applications such as nutrition, technology, exercise techniques, conditioning and biomechanics are related to this field.

- Original research:
PASE, besides the biological basis of exercise performance, disciplines that examine the field of exercise such as the need for sports, sport profiles, conditioning and biomechanics, as well as the effects of exercise programs on metabolism and performance-oriented functions, exercise physiology, motor learning, nutrition and psychology. publishes research in the field. The main purpose of PASE is to provide scientific research to increase performance in sports. PASE will currently only consider original articles from other journals that have not been evaluated. PASE will not consider articles previously published on preprint servers or rejected by PASE but resubmitted.

- Artical types:
PASE publishes original research, systematic and narrative reviews, meta-analyses, research notes, symposia, technical reports in line with the journal's mission. Symposiums are articles by different authors who deal with a subject from different aspects. Reviews and meta-analyses should provide a critical review of the literature, be educational about the fundamental and applied aspects of the subject, and make a judgment by integrating previous research on the subject. There is no word limit for reviews. However, the appropriate length will be determined by the relevant field editors and referees in order to convey the subject in a tidy manner. PASE is particularly interested in the applied aspects of literature. In addition, the author(s)' ability to claim expertise in the field of study they wish to publish and their credibility depend on their experience and research background in the subject area they publish. Authors who are experts in their fields will be preferred in the publication of such articles. A research note is a simple research design consisting of a few dependent variables, not exceeding 1500-2000 words. In these studies, as in other articles, there are Abstract, Introduction, Method, Results, Discussion, Conclusion and References, but the tables, figures and references are given in a limited way.
PASE encourages the development of all techniques and methods that help the development of the field of sports science.

- Manuscript clarifications:
Articles submitted to the journal will be published on-line if accepted. The eligibility of each submitted article for publication will be reviewed by a specific editorial subcommittee. If the relevant committee deems it appropriate, the article will be subject to review in order to make the necessary revisions. The article will be reviewed by the sub-committee before publication and revisions will be requested if necessary.

Manuscript Submission Guidelines:
All manuscripts should be submitted on-line at https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/pub/pase, taking into account the guidelines below. Articles sent via e-mail will not be considered.
1. The following text should be added to the article in a separate form. “This article is an original article and has in no way been previously published (including preprint) anywhere. In addition, it will not be sent to another journal until the PASE editorial review board makes the final decision about the article.” Under this text, the full address, e-mail address and telephone number of the corresponding author should be added. After this stage, the responsible author undertakes the entire communication process for the article.
2. All authors must reply to the e-mail sent to them by PASE and fill out the copyright form during the submission process. The article will not be evaluated until all authors fill out the forms. At this point, it is recommended that the responsible author take steps to speed up the process.
3. All authors whose names are mentioned as authors in the article should be actively involved in the article, should be able to defend the article when necessary, take full responsibility for the content and sign the final version of the article. All authors claiming authorship must have contributed significantly to the article. In addition, which author contributed to which section should be stated in the information section of the article. Author naming must have been accepted by all authors prior to first submission to PASE.
4. ASPAM and the PASE Editorial Board have approved the American College of Sports Medicine's (ACSM) policies regarding animal and human experimentation. Instructions for this can be found at http://www.editorialmanager.com/msse/. These policies should be read carefully. It should be documented that the submitted articles have been approved in accordance with the law. The approval received should be stated in the method section of the article. Otherwise, the article will not be considered by the Editorial Board. Exempt studies involving human subjects (i.e., retrospective data analysis studies, analysis of publicly available data, educational research, survey, and interviews) must include an institutional review board statement.
5. All texts should be double-spaced and 2.5 line spacing between paragraphs. There should be a margin of 2.5 cm in the upper right corner of the paper, and the page number should be in the upper right corner. All articles should contain terminology based on the International System of Units (SI). A full list of units of the International System of Units can be found at "http://physics.nist.gov/".
6. The PASE Editorial Board adopts the same policies as the American College of Sports Medicine's (ACSM). English-speaking authors are encouraged to seek help from more experienced colleagues to write articles in English. Authors should use non-sexist language in their articles and be sensitive to individuals with a chronic illness or disability. Only standardized abbreviations and symbols should be used in articles. If unknown abbreviations are mentioned in the article, these abbreviations should be defined in the first place. Authors should seek help from Webster's Tenth Collegiate Dictionary for word segmentation and spelling.
7. There is no standard word limit for original works. However, if deemed necessary, it may be suggested to change the length by the editor and/or referees.
8. Scientific abuses (fake data production, plagiarism, ethical violations, duplicate publications, human and animal research violations, etc.) will not be allowed. Proven abuses may include the author(s) being completely banned from PASE publication in the future. For detailed information on scientific misconduct, refer to the address “http://www.icmje.org/”. Inadvertent errors that do not change the findings of an article can be tolerated with proper explanation of the process.
Please Note:
Be sure to indicate in the method section that the study was approved by the ethics committee and that the subjects were informed about the study through a consent form. It should also be stated that a consent form for participation in the study and a written consent of a parent or guardian for those under the age of 18 were obtained. It is also important for Authors to include the IRB protocol or approval number.
