Pednelissos in Pisidien. Notizen zu Geschichte, Stadtentwicklung und Verwaltung in hellenistischer und römischer Zeit

Öz

The following article gives a short overview of our present knowledge of the history, urban development and administration of the Pisidian polis Pednelissos in Hellenistic and Roman times. From small literary, epigraphic and numismatic evidence and (more detailed) results of ar­chaeo­logical exploration it becomes clear that Pednelissos, obviously a pre-hellenistic foundation, was already a fully developed polis in the second and first century B.C., with a prominent cult of Apollo. Since the Romans had taken over the south-west Anatolian regions Pednelissos was a pros­perous polis with a small local elite whose members normally did not possess Roman civic status but demonstrated their loyalty to the Romans by cultivating the worship of Roman emperors. The period of late antiquity did not see a decline of Pednelissos but, on the contrary, many Christian churches of remarkable size and several rural settlements on the territory of Pednelissos testify to continuing prosperity until the sixth century A.D.

Pisidia Kenti Pednelissos. Hellenistik ve Roma Dönemlerinde Kentin Tarihçesi, Gelişimi ve İdaresi Üzerine Notlar

Öz

Az bilinen küçük Pisidya kenti Pednelissos hakkında yeni araştırmalar ışığında yeni bilgiler edinilmiştir. Yazarlar Hellenistik Dönem öncesinde kurulan ve İ.Ö. 3. Yy.da tipik bir Hellen polisi gibi örgütlenen kentte Halk ile Danışma meclislerinin varlığını kabul etmektedirler. Kentin tarihini güçlü ve saldırgan komşusu Selge belirlemiştir. Kentin İ.Ö. 2. yy.da Seleukosların getirdiği yardımla Selge’nin kuşatma­sından kurtulduğu bilinmektedir. Attalos Hanedanlığının bölgeyi himayesi altına almasıyla birlikte Pednelissos kentine Galatlardan oluşan bir askeri birliğin yerleştirilmiş olması muhtemeldir. Kentin merkezinde İ.Ö. 2. yy.da geniş çaplı imar faaliyetleri gerçekleşmiştir ve yeni surlar inşa edil­miş­tir. Bu, kentin bir refah dönemi yaşadığına işaret etmektedir. Kent İ.Ö. 1. yy.da kendi sikke­le­rini darp etmeye başlamıştır. İlk sikke tiplerinden itibaren Apollon başının resmedilmesi bu tanrının kent­teki önemini vurgulamaktadır. Apollon kültüne dair surların dışında tapınak kalıntıları tespit edil­miştir. İ.S. 1–3. yy.larda kent en parlak dönemini yaşamıştır. Ele geçen yaklaşık 40 yazıt bu dönemlere aittir. Yazıt­lardan imparator kültünün önemli yer tuttuğunu anlamaktayız. Bir yazıt imparator tapınağının varlığını kanıtlamaktadır. İmparator kültünün rahibi kentin önde gelen yöneticisidir. Kentin elit tabakası sayıca azdır ve bunların çoğu Roma vatandaşlık hakkına sahip değildir. Bazıları ktis­tes ve tropheus olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Kentte belgelenen agonlar da yerel düzeydedir. Romanizas­yon sınırlıdır. Ancak constitutio Antoniniana’dan sonra Latin isimlerin çoğaldığı gözlemlenmektedir. Diocletianus’un eyalet reformlarıyla beraber Pednelissos Pamfilya’ya dahil edilmiş ve sonra Perge baş­epis­koposluğuna bağlanmıştır. Kentte tespit edilen ve İ.S. 4–6. yy.lara tarihlenen kilise kalıntıları ken­tin bu dönemlerde ekonomik açıdan hala güçlü olduğuna işaret etmektedir. Kentin gerileme dönemi ancak İ.S. 6. yy.da başlamıştır.
