On the basis of the inscription CIL XIII 1807 = ILS 1330, an attempt is made to situate the care-er of the later praefectus praetorio Furius Timesitheus in the historical and administrative context of the early 3rd century CE, one focus being on the clarification of the administrative responsibili-ties connected with the various posts in this career.
