Abstract

İster gelişmekte olan, ister az gelişmiş ülkede olsun, genç bireylerin üniversiteye gitmek ve hangi alanda eğitim alacağına karar vermek, yaşamlarındaki en önemli kararlarından biridir. Bu kararı be-lirleyici içsel faktörler, gençlerin sahip olduğu kişiliğinden ve cinsiyetinden oluşmaktadır. Bu araştırma, genç nüfusun yoğun olduğu Kırgızistan’da öğrenci adaylarının cinsiyeti ve algıladıkları kişiliklerinin gelecekte kariyer tercihine olan etkisini ve ikisi arası ilişkiyi incelemeyi amaçla-maktadır. Bu amaca yönelik Kırgızistan örneğinde dört yıllık veri kapsamında (2015-2018) 7839 öğrenci adayından elde edilen veri seti üzerinde istatistiksel analizler yapılmıştır. Katılımcıların kendi algıladıkları kişilik ile ilgili sorular toplam 32 maddede yoğunlaşmıştır. Araştırma bulguları öğrenci adaylarının geleceğe yönelik meslek tercihlerinde sahip oldukları kişilikleri ve cinsiyetleri arasında bir ilişkinin olduğunu göstermektedir. Araştırma sonucunda edebiyat ve fen gibi eğitim ağırlıklı mes-leklerin kız adaylar tarafından, risk-alıcı, araç kullanmayı gerektiren teknik mesleklerin ise erkek adaylar tarafından daha çok tercih edildiği ortaya çıkmıştır. İktisadi ve idari bilimler fakültesini nispeten toplumcul, ısrarlı, kendine güvenen, meraklı; iletişim fakültesini araştırmacı, riski seven, duygusal, bağımsız, yaratıcı, uysal ve yenilikçi; mühendislik fakültesini gayretli, sorumluluk sahibi, zeki, sabırlı, merhametli ve sessiz kişiliğe sahip katılımcıların tercih ettiği sonucuna gidilmiştir. Araştırma bulguları, devlet üniversitelerinde aday öğrencilerin karar verme sürecini ölçmek için ileride yapılacak olan çalışmaların önemini vurgulayabilir.

HOW PERSONALITY TRAITS AND GENDER CAN INFLUENCE CAREER CHOICE: THE EVIDENCE FROM KYRGYZSTAN

Abstract

Whether in a developing or less developed country, decision on study in university or not and career choice is vitally important for young people. The internal factors determining this decision is considered to be consist of the personality and gender of the individuals. This study aims to examine the impact of gender and perceived personalities of enrollees on career choice and the relationship between them in the case of Kyrgyzstan. For this purpose, statistical analyzes were done on the data collstubornected from 7839 enrollees during 2015-2018 period. The questions related to personality consists of 32 items. As a result of the study, it was found out that education-based faculties such as humanities and science were female-dominated and risk-taking and tools-driven professions like en-gineering, veterinary and agriculture were male-dominated. The faculty of economic and administra-tive sciences is more selected by sociable, persistent, confident, inquisitive individuals; communica-tion faculty is preferred by researcher, risk-loving, sentimental, independent, inventive, gentle and innovative enrollees; and engineering faculty is preferred by enrollees with diligent, responsible, smart, patient, softhearted and quiet personalities. The research can highlight the importance of fur-ther studies addressing to quantify decision-making process of the enrollees in public universities.

КАК ЛИЧНОСТНЫЕ КАЧЕСТВА И ПОЛОВАЯ ПРИНАДЛЕЖНОСТЬ МОГУТ ВЛИ-ЯТЬ НА ВЫБОР ПРОФЕССИИ: НА ПРИМЕРЕ КЫРГЫЗСТАНА

Abstract

Вне зависимости от того, является ли страна развивающейся или менее развитой, решение о продолжении обучения в вузе и выборе профессии имеет жизненно важное значение для молодого поколения. Внутренние факторы, определяющие это решение, состоят из личностных данных и половой принадлежности индивида. Целью данного исследования является изучение влияния половой принадлежности и личности абитуриентов на выбор профессии в Кыргызстане. С этой целью был проведен статистический анализ данных, собранных от 7839 абитуриентов в период 2015-2018 гг. Вопросы, связанные с личностью, состоят из 32 пунктов. Было установлено, что женщины более ориентированы на педагогические факультеты, такие как гуманитарный и естественнонаучный, а инновационные и прикладные – такие, как инженерия, ветеринария и сельское хозяйство, больше предпочитают мужчины. Что касается личностных качеств абитуриентов, то факультет экономики выбирают студенты более общительные, настойчивые, уверенные в себе, любознательные; факультет коммуникации в приоритете у исследователей, изобретателей и индивидов, любящих новшества, независимых; инженерный факультет предпочитают студенты, отличающиеся усердием, ответственностью, интеллектом, терпением, мягкостью и спокойствием. Данное исследование показывает важность продолжения научной работы, направленной на количественную оценку процесса принятия решений о зачислении в государственные, а также частные университеты.
