Investigating the Relationship between Conflict Resolution Styles and Serenity
Abstract
This study aims to examine the relationship between conflict resolution styles and serenity. The sample comprises 434 adults in marital or romantic relationships. Data were collected using the Conflict Resolution Styles Inventory and the Serenity Scale. The variables of age, relationship duration, and frequency of conflict were analyzed through one-way ANOVA. A t-test was used to analyze the relationship between gender and the variables of conflict resolution and serenity. According to the test results, there was no significant difference between gender and scales scores. The analyses revealed a significant positive relationship between conflict resolution styles and serenity. It was concluded that age is related to both conflict resolution and serenity; frequency of conflict is related only to serenity; and relationship duration is related only to conflict resolution styles. According to the results of the ANOVA test, it was determined that the scores obtained from the serenity scale and the conflict resolution styles scale showed significant differences across age groups. Furthermore, it was found that the scores derived from the serenity scale differed significantly based on the frequency of conflict. Additionally, it was concluded that the scores obtained from the conflict resolution styles scale exhibited a significant difference in relation to the duration of the relationship
