The decorative elements for interior and exterior surfaces are significant just as the structural elements of both the simple and monumental buildings. The wallpapers are important decorative elements in terms of easy coverability, various color options, decorative faetures and functions for interiors. The wallpapers of the building, which covered the study room of Said Halim Pasha were heavily destroyed by the fire and the sea water the latter of which used to extinguish the fire. Through the rescue excavations carried out in the Said Halim Pasha waterside residence also known as the ‘Arslanlı Yalı’, the wallpapers were documented and removed from their original places. The precautions were taken against biological and further deteriorations and the wallpapers were compressed between plyboards. Then they were moved to a storage room with the other salvated stuff. After the rebuilding of the structure, during the process of redecoration, the wallpapers inside the plyboards were taken out for conservation and restoration procedures. The restored wallpapers were placed on the original surfaces on timber frame walls through stapling
