Various testing methods have been developed for determining the pozzolanic property and activity of a material. Some of these testing methods have been standardized while some are used as supporting methods. These are generally categorized as direct and indirect methods. They can also be grouped as chemical, physical, analytical and mechanical methods according to their application fields. By the use of some of them, many studies have been and are still being conducted for determining the pozzolanic properties of various natural and artificial materials. However, studies evaluating these testing methods as a whole are insufficient in the literature. In this literature study, only the chemical methods will be evaluated all together as one of the methods for the direct determination of the pozzolanic properties and the main characteristic features of them will be discussed.
