until recently. Turkey has been leaded under a certain kind of semipresidential system where a dual-executive exists. This ended with the elections on June 24. and Turkey completely switched to the Turkish presidential system – abolishing. for instance. the office of the prime minister. This time citizens voted both for the president and legislature simultaneously. Consequently. the parties –and alliances– had to select their presidential candidate and MP candidates more carefully. In this paper. Turkey's main opposition party. the Republican People's Party CHP will be analyzed in depth. By this. the party’s strategy towards the presidential and legislature elections will be addressed. Furthermore. the main discourses and striking promises of the party and its presidential candidate will be analyzed. too. Thus. the paper will show. how it was not possible for the CHP to be successful once again
