This article addresses the shifts and changes in Turkish politics since 2002 to the moment, in the field of religious education policies and its practices, under the rule of the Justice and Development Party JDP that lasted for 15 years continuously for the first time. In this context, we address this topic by tracking the previous status of religious education that existed in Turkey before the JDP and the policies shifts and status changes in the nowadays widespread religious education. The religious education now is applied in different sections including primary, preparatory and high schools; Imamhatip schools and higher religious education institutes as well as Quran memorization institutes
