A Structural Analysis of the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Literature Through a VOSviewer-Based Bibliometric Approach

This study aims to examine the existing body of literature on the concept of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) through the application of bibliometric analysis methods. The dataset utilized within the scope of this research was retrieved from the Web of Science (WoS) database. Based on the collected data, a total of 910 publications related to sustainable aviation fuel were identified, demonstrating a consistent upward trend in publication volume since 2019.
The relatively recent emergence of SAF-focused research within the academic literature, along with the reliance on a single bibliographic database, constitute key limitations affecting the overall scope of the study. For the analysis of the dataset, the VOSviewer software was employed, enabling the visualization and mapping of relationships such as co-authorship networks, citation linkages, and bibliographic coupling.
The results of the analysis indicate that Joshua Heyne is the most influential author within the field of sustainable aviation fuel research. By systematically evaluating the current state of the literature, identifying research trends, and highlighting existing knowledge gaps, this study provides a structured foundation to guide future research efforts in the domain of sustainable aviation fuels.
