Today, individuals are more technologically sensitive, and especially internet use is an integral part of daily life. Therefore, the need to support individuals with type 2 diabetes through the usage of information on the internet has gradually increased. While the use of internet-based information resources makes the life of individuals easier for effective self-management, the exact and reliability of the information obtained still raises doubts for patients and health care delivery. Therefore, it seems critical for individuals with type 2 diabetes to acquire e-health literacy skills. Developing e-health literacy with individualized interventions is beneficial for empowerment and participation in self-management activities. In this direction, it is necessary for health professionals who participate in the treatment, care, and follow-up of individuals with type 2 diabetes to increase their e-health literacy awareness and develop effective strategies to ensure patient participation. This review aimed to focus on the e-health literacy skills of individuals with type 2 diabetes and to provide a better understanding of its effects on self-management and empowerment by including previous research results.
