Comparison of properties of basic refractory bricks which use in rotary kiln of cement industry

Abstract

Cr + 6 ions that occur during various reactions during the use of basic character refractory materials used in the sinter region of cement rotary kilns cause harmful toxic effects. Since magnesite-chromium refractories have this toxic effect, alternative magnesite-spinel and magnesite-hersinite refractories have been developed. Three different types of refractory materials (magnesite-chrome, magnesite-spinel and magnesite-hersinite) were produced in this work. These produced three different refractories are compared with a variety of physical (density, porosity and strength and refractivity test under load (RUL) and chemical (XRF, XRD) analyzes and microscopic structures. As a result of the tests made, it was measured that there was no significant change in density and porosity values ​​and that the strength value gave the best result with 75.23 (N / mm2) value in magnesite-hersinite refractor. It is also determined from the RUL test that all three refractory materials can be used between 1450-1500 ° C.
