Has the Pandemic Process Changed the Lifestyle Habits of Gendarmerie Coast Guard Academy Students?

Yıl 2021, Cilt: 5 Sayı: 3, 205 - 219, 30.12.2021

Öz

The primary purpose of this study was to Covid-19 pandemic in the process of the Gendarmerie, the Coast Guard Academy (JSGA) students, changes in behavioral and lifestyle habits to reveal. The secondary dec is to determine whether there is a relationship between these variables according to the students' body mass index (BMI). The research group of the study consists of 208 male students studying at JSGA. In the research conducted in the relational screening model, the personal information form and the information form for determining lifestyle changes were used as data collection tools. The data obtained from the surveys were analyzed in the Jamovi 1.8.2 statistical software program with 5% confidence interval and a 5% margin of error. In the analysis of the data, percentage and frequency values were used in descriptive data, and nonparametric correlation test and Kruskal Wallis test were used in binary comparisons because the data did not show a normal distribution. According to the results of the analysis, it was determined that the participation of JSGA students in physical activity increased compared to the pre-pandemic period, the majority of them lost weight, their sleep times were in good condition, their TV watching times, nutritional status and stress levels did not change. Statistically, between students' BMI classification and their lifestyle habits; There was a high negative correlation with weight status, a high positive correlation with sleep duration, and a high negative correlation with stress levels. In the Kruskal Wallis test results, it was found that the weight status, sleep quality and stress level significantly affected the BMI values of the students. As a result, it can be said that the living habits of the majority of the students are at a good level compared to the pre-pandemic period. The increase in students' participation in physical activity may have provided a good level of living habits.
