FİNANSAL HİYERARŞİ VE DENGELEME TEORİSİNİN GEÇERLİLİĞİNİN TÜRK İMALAT SANAYİ FİRMALARINDA TEST EDİLMESİ

Since capital structure composition, which is called as debt-equity composition, is a vital issue for firms, it is an important area in which so many studies have been done in financial literature. In this study, it is aimed to determine whether the capital structure decisions of the firms in Turkish manufacture industry, in other words their loan contracted behaviours, are compatible with Financial Hierarchy Theory or the Trade off Theory, which are the two main prevailing view in literature. In the present study, the annual data of 50 firms for - quoted market- the period of 1990-2014 were analyzed using the packaged software of E-views 8 by means of the dynamic panel data analysis method. As a result of the analysis, while it was found out that, out of the independent variables, firm size, asset structure, profitability and current ratio had a negative effect on borrowing, growth rate and growth opportunuties had a positive effect. It was also seen that tax shield out of debt and nonsystematic risk did not have a significant effect on borrowing. Accordingly, it can be said that loan contracted behaviours of the firms in the Turkish manufacturing industry are mainly compatible with Financial Hierarchy Theory.

Borç- özkaynak bileşimi olarak ifade edilen sermaye yapısı bileşimi firmalar için hayati öneme sahip bir konu olduğu için finans literatüründe yoğun çalışmaların yapıldığı bir alandır. Bu çalışmada Türk imalat sanayi firmalarının sermaye yapısı kararlarının diğer bir deyişle borçlanma davranışlarının, literatürdeki iki hakim görüş olan Finansal Hiyerarşi Teorisi ve Dengeleme Teorisinden hangisi le uyumlu olduğunu tespit etmek amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada 1990-2014 dönemi için Borsa İstanbul’da işlem gören 50 adet firmanın yıllık verileri E-views 8 paket programında dinamik panel veri analizi yöntemi ile incelenmiştir. Analiz neticesinde bağımsız değişkenlerden firma büyüklüğü, varlık yapısı, kârlılık ve cari oranın borçlanma üzerinde negatif etkisi bulunmuşken; büyüme oranı ve büyüme fırsatlarının pozitif etkisi olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Borç dışı vergi kalkanı ve firma riskinin ise borçlanma düzeyinde anlamlı bir etkisi olmadığı görülmüştür. Buna göre Türk İmalat sanayi firmalarının borçlanma davranışlarının ağırlıklı olarak Finansal Hiyerarşi Teorisi ile uyumlu olduğu söylenebilir.
