Kildeki Mozart: 16 Numaralı Piyano Sonatı ile Şekillenen Seramik Veri Nesneleri

Öz

Bu çalışma, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart'ın 16. Piyano Sonatı Do Majör (KV 545) Allegro bölümüne ait ses verilerinin, algoritmik tasarım ve dijital üretim teknolojileri aracılığıyla üç boyutlu seramik veri nesnelerine dönüştürülme sürecini incelemektedir. Araştırma; müzik verisi, yaratıcı kodlama ve seramik sanat pratiğinin disiplinlerarası kesişim noktasında, veri fizikselleştirme kavramı çerçevesinde konumlandırılmaktadır. Çalışmada ses verisi, mevcut bir kayıttan değil; araştırmacının eseri bizzat piyano üzerinde icra etmesiyle elde edilmiştir. İcra sırasında yakalanan ses, Processing programlama ortamında geliştirilen özgün bir yazılım aracılığıyla gerçek zamanlı olarak silindirik vazo formlarına aktarılmıştır. Yazılım, Minim kütüphanesi üzerinden stereo modda çalışarak sesin genlik değerlerini silindirik koordinat sistemine dönüştürmekte; her ses karesini formun yüzeyinde ayrı bir katman olarak işlemekte ve müzikle şekillenen yüzey dokusu, icranın dinamik yapısını doğrudan yansıtmaktadır. Modelleme sürecinde Radius, Amplitude ve Layer Height parametreleri titizlikle belirlenerek formun boyutu, ses tepkisinin şiddeti ve dikey büyüme hızı denetim altında tutulmuştur. Elde edilen dijital modeller STL formatında dışa aktarılmış, ardından FDM tipi üç boyutlu seramik yazıcıyla fiziksel forma dönüştürülmüştür. Farklı nozül çapları (1,5 mm ve 2,5 mm) kullanılarak aynı tasarımdan iki baskı alınmış; bisküvi ve sırlı pişirim aşamalarının ardından her iki vazo da beyaz opak sır ile bitirilmiştir. Araştırmanın temel katkısı, işitsel ve geçici bir deneyim olan müziğin dokunulabilir ve kalıcı bir nesneye dönüştürülmesi sürecinde kişisel icranın belirleyici bir rol üstlenmesidir. İcra sırasında ortaya çıkan yorumsal nüanslar ve teknik hatalar, nesnenin yüzeyine işlenerek çalışmayı salt bir teknik dönüşüm pratiğinin ötesine taşımakta; seramiği hem bir veri nesnesi hem de refleksif bir sanatsal ifade aracına dönüştürmektedir. Bu çalışma, veri fizikselleştirme, yaratıcı kodlama ve seramik sanatının kesiştiği alanda özgün bir araştırma pratiği örneği sunmakta; sesin ötesinde, dokunulabilir anlam üretiminin henüz yeterince keşfedilmemiş potansiyelini gündeme taşımaktadır.

Mozart in Clay: Ceramic Data Objects Shaped by Piano Sonata No. 16

Öz

This study examines the process of transforming sound data from the Allegro movement of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 16 in C Major (KV 545) into three-dimensional ceramic data objects through algorithmic design and digital fabrication technologies. The research is positioned at the interdisciplinary intersection of musical data, creative coding, and ceramic art practice, framed within the concept of data physicalization. Rather than drawing from an existing recording, the sound data used in this study was obtained through the researcher's own piano performance of the work. The sound captured during the performance was transferred in real time to cylindrical vase forms via custom software developed in the Processing programming environment. Operating in stereo mode through the Minim library, the software converts amplitude values into a cylindrical coordinate system, rendering each sound frame as a distinct layer on the surface of the form; the resulting surface texture directly reflects the dynamic character of the performance. Throughout the modelling process, the Radius, Amplitude, and Layer Height parameters were carefully calibrated to control the dimensions of the form, the intensity of the sound response, and the rate of vertical growth. The digital models were exported in STL format and subsequently fabricated using an FDM ceramic 3D printer. Two prints were produced from the same design using different nozzle diameters (1.5 mm and 2.5 mm); following bisque and glaze firings, both vessels were finished with a white opaque glaze. The primary contribution of this research lies in the role of personal performance as a determinative factor in the transformation of music — an auditory and ephemeral experience — into a tangible, permanent object. The interpretive nuances and technical imperfections that emerge during performance are inscribed onto the surface of the ceramic object, carrying the work beyond a purely technical data-conversion exercise and establishing the ceramic piece as both a data object and a medium of reflexive artistic expression. This study presents an original research practice at the convergence of data physicalization, creative coding, and ceramic art, and draws attention to the underexplored potential of producing tactile meaning beyond sound.
