Ramsay Hunt Syndrome: Case Report

Ramsay Hunt Syndrome occurs as a late complication of the infection caused by the Varicella Zoster virus. In this case report, we aimed to examine the clinical features, diagnostic approaches, and treatment methods of the disease in a patient admitted to our clinic with Ramsay Hunt syndrome. A 33-year-old female patient presenting with vesicular, painful, and crusted herpetic lesions located in the left auricular triangular fossa, posteroinferior to the superior cavum concha, and external auditory canal was diagnosed with grade 4 peripheral facial paralysis according to the House-Brackmann classification. The patient was clinically diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome. Facial paralysis in Ramsay Hunt Syndrome is more severe and has a worse prognosis than Bell paralysis. It can be easily diagnosed with anamnesis and physical examination. Providing appropriate medical treatment in the early period improves the prognosis.

Ramsay Hunt Sendromu: Olgu Sunumu

Ramsay Hunt Sendromu, Varicella Zoster virüsünün neden olduğu enfeksiyonun geç bir komplikasyonu olarak ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bu olgu sunumunda, Ramsay Hunt sendromu nedeniyle kliniğimize yatışı yapılan olgu üzerinden, hastalığın klinik özelliklerinin, tanısal yaklaşımın ve tedavi yöntemlerinin incelenmesi amaçlandı. Sol aurikula triangüler fossada, süperior kavum konkanın posteroinferiorunda ve dış kulak yolunda veziküler, ağrılı ve krutlanan herpetik lezyonlar ile başvuran 33 yaş kadın hastada House-Brackmann sınıflamasına göre, grade 4 periferik fasiyal paralizi saptandı. Hastaya Ramsay Hunt sendromu tanısı klinik olarak konuldu. Ramsay Hunt Sendromunda fasiyal paralizi, Bell paralizisine göre daha şiddetli ve daha kötü prognozla seyreder. Anamnez ve fizik muayene ile kolayca tanı konulabilir. Erken dönemde uygun medikal tedavi verilmesi prognozu iyi yönde etkilemektedir.
