YEZÎD’İN HİLÂFETİNE MUHALEFET BAĞLAMINDA HZ. HÜSEYİN’İN KÛFE’YE YÖNELİŞİ VE SEBEPLERİ
Öz
Bu çalışma, Hz. Hüseyin’in Yezîd’in hilâfetine muhalefeti ve Kûfe’ye yönelişini, bu kararın arka planında yatan dinî, ahlâkî, siyasî ve toplumsal etkenleri bütüncül bir yaklaşımla incelemektedir. Araştırmada yalnızca olayların kronolojik aktarımıyla yetinilmeyip, Hz. Hüseyin’in şahsiyetini şekillendiren unsurların karar sürecine etkisi de değerlendirilmiştir. Hz. Hüseyin’in çocukluk ve gençlik döneminde Hz. Hüseyin’in muhalif tutumuna toplumsal bir zemin hazırlamıştır. Yezîd’in yönetim anlayışı ve şahsiyeti de Hz. Hüseyin’in kararını etkileyen önemli unsurlardandır. Yezîd’in içkiye düşkünlüğü, devlet işlerine ilgisizliği ve dinî hassasiyetlerden uzak tavırları, Hz.

Husayn b. Ali’s Turn Toward Kūfa and Its Underlying Causes in The Context of Opposition to Yazīd’s Caliphate
Öz
This study examines Husayn b. Ali’s opposition to Yazid’s caliphate and his turn to Kufa, as well as the religious, moral, political and social factors underlying this decision, with a holistic approach. The research does not only provide a chronological narrative of the events, but also evaluates the impact of the elements that shaped Husayn b. Ali’s personality on the decision-making process. The study was conducted using a historical-analytical method, employing classical Islamic histories, certain hadith reports, and modern research for the interpretation and analysis of events. Husayn b. Ali’s childhood and youth, his upbringing under the guidance of the Prophet and Ali b. Ebu Talib, his prestige in the eyes of the Companions and the public, and his sense of responsibility were decisive in his decision-making process. His position and respect during the period of the four Caliphs strengthened his social legitimacy. However, the Umayyad administration, especially the policies implemented during the reign of Muawiyah b. Ebu Süfyan; Insults against Ali, the unjust distribution of spoils and donations, and the relocation of the political center to Damascus created a negative perception among the people of Kufa and laid the groundwork for Husayn b. Ali's opposition. Yazid's understanding of the management and his personality were also important factors influencing Husayn b. Ali's decision. Yazid's addiction to alcohol, his lack of interest in state affairs, and his lack of religious sensitivities were deemed unsuitable for the caliphate by Husayn b. Ali. Therefore, Husayn b. Ali who refused to pledge allegiance, viewed his stance as both an act of political opposition and a religious and moral responsibility. The invitation letters sent by the people of Kufa and the promises he made were decisive in his move towards Kufa. In conclusion, Husayn b. Ali’s move towards Kufa was not the product of a sudden reaction, but the result of a multifaceted process in which historical, political, religious, and social factors converged. In this process, leadership responsibility, social support, and Umayyad policies came together to form the basis for the dramatic developments leading to Karbala.
