BİG BANG TEORİSİ BAĞLAMINDA TEİZM-MATERYALİZM’İN KARŞILAŞTIRMALI ANALİZİ

This study examines the Big Bang theory—one of the foundational theories of modern cosmology—by comparatively analyzing the ontological and epistemological claims of two major worldviews: theism and materialism. It focuses on how the scientific implications of the Big Bang theory are interpreted by these approaches with regard to fundamental issues such as the origin of the universe, the nature of time, and the status of matter. Within this framework, the study discusses the extent to which the concept of creation ex nihilo, a core tenet of theistic thought, is associated with the Big Bang theory, while also evaluating materialist claims concerning the eternity of the universe and the primacy of matter in light of contemporary cosmological findings. After outlining the main assumptions of both theistic and materialist perspectives, the study comparatively assesses these viewpoints through the lens of the Big Bang theory and related scientific discoveries. Although numerous studies on the Big Bang theory have been conducted in Türkiye, research that systematically and comparatively addresses theism and materialism within this context remains limited. In this respect, the study aims to contribute to the literature by fostering a dialogue between scientific cosmology and philosophical-religious interpretations.

Bu çalışma, modern kozmolojinin temel kuramlarından biri olan Big Bang teorisini merkeze alarak, evrenin kökeni ve mahiyeti konusunda iki temel düşünce sistemi olan teizm ve materyalizmin ileri sürdüğü ontolojik ve epistemolojik yaklaşımları karşılaştırmalı olarak incelemektedir. Big Bang teorisinin bilimsel sonuçlarının; evrenin başlangıcı, zamanın mahiyeti ve maddenin statüsü gibi temel meseleler bağlamında bu iki yaklaşım tarafından nasıl yorumlandığı analiz edilmektedir. Bu çerçevede çalışma, dinî düşüncenin temel kabullerinden biri olan “yoktan yaratma” anlayışının Big Bang teorisiyle hangi noktalarda ilişkilendirildiğini ele almakta; aynı zamanda materyalist düşüncenin evrenin ezelîliği ve maddenin mutlaklığına dair iddialarını söz konusu teori ışığında değerlendirmektedir. Teizm ve materyalizmin temel kabulleri ortaya konulduktan sonra, Big Bang teorisi ve onu destekleyen çağdaş bilimsel bulgular çerçevesinde bu iki yaklaşım karşılaştırmalı olarak ele alınmaktadır. Türkiye’de Big Bang teorisi üzerine çeşitli çalışmalar bulunmakla birlikte, bu teori bağlamında teizm ve materyalizmin sistematik ve karşılaştırmalı bir analizini konu edinen araştırmaların sınırlı olduğu görülmektedir. Bu yönüyle çalışma, bilimsel kozmoloji ile felsefî-dinî yaklaşımlar arasındaki ilişkiyi tartışmaya açması bakımından literatüre katkı sunmayı amaçlamaktadır.
