EXAMINATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PSYCHOLOGICAL RESILIENCE, LONELINESS AND TEST ANXIETY OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER CANDIDATES
Öz
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between resilience, loneliness, and test anxiety among physical education teacher candidates. The population of the research consists of senior students who graduated from faculties of sport sciences or schools of physical education and sports in the 2024/2025 academic year. The sample of the study is composed of a total of 570 students, including 186 males and 384 females. Data were collected using a personal information form, the Brief Resilience Scale, the RULS-6 Loneliness Scale, and the Ayda Test Anxiety Scale, and were analyzed using the JASP 0.18.3.0 program. The study determined that loneliness, resilience, and anxiety levels showed significant differences according to gender among physical education teacher candidates. While no significant difference was found in loneliness and anxiety levels according to age, a significant difference was observed in resilience levels. Additionally, a positive and significant relationship was found between loneliness and resilience. A high-level positive and significant relationship was also identified between cognitive anxiety and family- and environment-related anxiety. The study concludes that the relationships among resilience, loneliness, and test anxiety significantly influence one another among physical education teacher candidates. As a result, it was determined that considering resilience, loneliness, and anxiety factors holistically is important for better understanding the psychological processes of physical education teacher candidates. Accordingly, developing interventions that take into account the effects of resilience and loneliness on test anxiety may contribute to improving candidates’ test performance and overall psychological well-being.
