The Foundation, Development, Population and Functional Characteristics in The City Of Dinar
Abstract
Dinar which is a county borough administratively connected to the province Afyon is in the borders of Göller Yöresi (Lake District) of Mediterranean Region. The city lies up to the
sides of the mountains Akdağ and Samsun and has the two springs of the river Büyükmenderes. Dinar county borough which has been founded at the intersection point of the highways of Afyon-Antalya, Isparta-Denizli and Konya-Denizli is both the administrative centre and the principal place of business of the settlements around it. The city has developed in the direction of these highways. However, there has been earthquakes in the area where the city was founded and around the city which sometimes prevented the city’s development throughout history. In consideration of periods, the last earthquake which was destructive was the 1 October 1995 earthquake which left damage in terms of both financial loss and human lost. In spite of the immigrations after the earthquakes, the population that was 2732 in the year of 1927 rose to 24340 in the year of 2007.
