Covid-19 Salgın Sürecinin Tıp Eğitimine Yansıması: Yeditepe Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Deneyimi

Öz

Tüm dünyayı etkisi altına alan Covid-19 salgın sürecinin olumsuz sonuçları, henüz 2019-2020 öğretim yılı tamamlanmadan, yükseköğrenim kurumlarına da, yansımış ve bu doğrultuda fakültemiz de eğitime yönelik tüm kurul, komisyon ve koordinatörlüklerin temsiliyetinin sağlandığı ve Tıp Eğitimi Anabilim dalı öğretim üyelerinin de yer aldığı “eğitim yönetimi acil durum kurulu” mantığı ile çalışmalarını yürüten bir “üst kurul” oluşturmuştur. Bu kurul çalışmalarını yürütürken YÖK’ün ilgili duyuru ve tavsiye kararları ile Tıp Eğitimi Programları Değerlendirme ve Akreditasyon Derneğinin önerileri ve Tıp Dekanları Konseyi ile de yakın iş birliği içinde bu konuya ilişkin dünyadaki uygulamaları referans alarak Mezuniyet Öncesi Tıp Eğitim Programını yeniden düzenlemiştir. Fakültemiz amacı doğrultusunda program çıktıları ve öğrenim hedefleri ile uyumlu öğrenme ve ölçme değerlendirme süreçlerini tasarlamış ve bu doğrultuda süreci tamamlamıştır. COVID-19 salgın sürecinin eğitim süreci üzerine en temel etkisi, özellikle başlangıç aşamasında olmakla beraber, aslında tüm sürece egemen süreğen bir belirsizlik atmosferinin olması olmuştur. Bu durum Fakültemizde karar alma süreçlerini daha dinamik hale getirmiş, hızlı karar alma gereksinimi de katılımcı yönetimin dolayısıyla dönem koordinatörlükleri ve anabilim dallarının daha aktif bir biçimde sürece katkı yapmalarının önünü açmıştır.

The Impact of Covid-19 Outbreak Process on Medical Education: the experience of Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine

As the academic year 2019-2020 has not yet finished, the negative consequences of Covid-19 pandemic process which is still influencing the whole world, have also affected the universities. Our faculty has taken the necessary precautions in regard to coordination of the education, accordingly. Thus, a supreme board (Distance Education Commission) has been established comprising representatives of educational boards and commissions and Medical Education Department which worked with a rationale of “emergency management”. This commission organized the Undergraduate Medical Education Program taking the announcements and recommendations of Higher Education Council and the suggestions of Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Medical Education Programs (TEPDAD) and the Council of Deans as references. In this context, considering the program outcomes, distance education implementations related to learning and teaching and measurement assessment methods have been planned. An atmosphere of uncertainty was the basic effect of covid-19 pandemic in regard to education which persisted through the whole process although at the beginning stage especially. Beside a series of disadvantages of Covid-19 favourable conclusions have been also observed in our faculty such as increased dynamic of decisional processes the necessity of which paved the way for the active involvement of the participative administration in the process regarding both of the administrative and educational organization. The aim of this paper is to share our experiences regarding the conclusions of Covid-19 related to our undergraduate medical education and management and coordination of the process.
