Öz
The purpose of this study was to determine social life related satisfaction levels of medical and other faculty students at the registration period and follow up these levels considering some possible effective variables throughout the education period. The students from the Faculties of Medicine, Economics and Physical Education registered in the academic year of 1996-97 were asked to complete a questionnaire about their satisfaction levels with their social life. The study group has been followed up for six years in Medical Faculty and for four years in other faculties with the same procedure which was performed in the early days of each academic year. The satisfaction scores of the students with their social lives were not significantly different between the first and the second years of the schools. But the third and fourth year satisfaction scores among medical students were significantly lower than the scores of the other faculty students. Satisfaction scores among medical students showed a significant decrease in the course of medical education. If any intervention is to be made to prevent the decrease in student satisfaction with social life in medical faculty, it must be done in early years of the school.

Bu araştırma Tıp Fakültesi öğrencilerinin diğer Fakülte ve Yüksek Okulların öğrencileriyle karşılaştırmalı olarak okula başladıkları andaki sosyal yaşam memnuniyetlerinin saptanması, sosyal yaşam memnuniyetine etki eden etmenleri saptamak amacıyla planlanan bir çalışmadır. Bu amaca ulaşabilmek için üç farklı yüksek öğrenim kuruluşuna (Tıp Fakültesi, İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi ve Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Yüksek Okuluna) 1996-1997 yılında kayıt yaptıran ve çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden öğrencilerin tümü araştırma evreni olarak belirlenmiştir. Her yıl Eylül ayında aynı anket formu ile veriler toplanmıştır. Araştırma grubunun sosyal yaşam memnuniyet skorlarında ilk ve ikinci yıl anlamlı fark saptanmamış, ancak üçüncü ve dördüncü yıl skorlarında anlamlı bir fark bulunmuş ve farkın Tıp Fakültesi öğrencilerinden kaynaklandığı belirlenmiştir. Tıp Fakültesi öğrencilerinin başlangıç yıllarındaki sosyal yaşam memnuniyet skorları ileri sınıflarda anlamlı olarak azalmıştır.
