Student Ratings in Evaluation of Teaching Effectiveness and Educational Program

Öz

Student ratings are one of the most frequent methods used to evaluate teaching effectiveness from beginning of 1900s. The aim of this paper is give to information about student rating form usage and to design in evaluation teaching effectiveness and program evaluation activities. Although frequently used, there are many problems related to reliability of the results derivated from student rating forms. Such forms should include titles about students, instructors and course. Reliability and validity studies should be performed to provide objective data and ensure of usage continuity. Students should be informed about the purpose of the questionnaire and the frequency of student ratings should be determined according to the purpose. Timing of student rating is suggested except for final examination. Efforts given on curriculum design and instructor teaching effectiveness should benefit from results of student ratings.

EĞİTİM ETKİNLİĞİNİ DEĞERLENDİRMEDE ÖĞRENCİ GERİ BİLDİRİMİNİN KULLANIMI

Öz

Öğrenci geri bildirimleri 1900’lü yılların basından beri eğitim etkinliğini değerlendirmede en sık kullanılan yöntemlerden biridir. Bu yazının amacı anket yöntemi ile alınan öğrenci geri bildirimlerinin kullanım alanları ve yapılandırılması ile ilgili bilgi vermektir. Sık kullanılmasına rağmen formların geliştirilmesinden kaynaklanan, sonuçların güvenirliği ile ilgili sorunlar da yaşanmaktadır. Formların geliştirilmesinde öğrenciye, eğiticiye ve eğitime ilişkin baslıklar yer almalıdır. Objektif veri elde etmede ve kullanımının sürekliliğini sağlamada formların geçerlik ve güvenirlik çalışmaları yapılmalıdır. Öğrenci geri bildirimlerinin uygulama amacı öğrencilere açıklanmalı ve uygulanma sıklığı amaca uygun olarak düzenlenmelidir. Öğrenci geri bildirimlerinin sınav dışı zamanlarda uygulanması önerilmektedir. Elde edilen sonuçlar eğitim programı ve eğiticinin eğitim etkinliklerinin iyileştirilme ve geliştirilme çalışmalarında kullanılmalıdır.
