Kimlik Üzerine Bir Keşfin Portresi: Julie ve Beliren Yetişkinliğin Dinamikleri

Öz

Bu çalışmada, “Dünyanın En Kötü İnsanı” filmi, beliren yetişkinlik döneminin, kimlik arayışı, istikrarsızlık, kendine odaklanma, fırsatların yaşı ve "arada kalma" özellikleri bakımından incelenmiştir. Filmin baş karakteri Julie'nin değerlendirilmesi yoluyla, beliren yetişkinliğin hangi özelliklerinin somutlaştırıldığı ve bu özelliklerin karakterin yolculuğunda nasıl tezahür ettiği gösterilmeye çalışılmıştır. Bununla birlikte beliren yetişkinlik özellikleri ile ilgili kuramsal bağlantıların oluşturulması açısından, bu dönemin kimlik, özerklik, öz belirleme ve bilişsel gelişim unsurları açıklanmıştır. Norveçli bir yönetmen tarafından çekilen ve Oslo'da geçen anlatı, İskandinav kültürü özellikleri, bireyci ve kolektivist değerler ile beliren yetişkinlikte dar ve geniş sosyalleşme arasındaki ayrımlar gibi kültürel unsurlar açısından da analiz edilmektedir. Baş karakterin bakış açısıyla, kadınlık, evlilik ve ebeveynlik, ilgili psikolojik ve sosyolojik kuramlar çerçevesinde yorumlanmakta ve açıklanmaktadır.

A Portrait of an Exploration on Identity: Julie and the Dynamics of Emerging Adulthood

Öz

This study analyzes the movie namely “The Worst Person in the World” through the lens of emerging adulthood, focusing on its core characteristics: identity exploration, instability, self-focus, feeling "in-between," and a sense of possibilities. Through an evaluation of the protagonist, Julie, the analysis of the movie illustrates which features of emerging adulthood she embodies and how these traits manifest in her journey. Furthermore, to establish theoretical connections, the study explains the elements of identity, autonomy, self-determination, cognitive developmental changes inherit to this developmental stage. Directed by a Norwegian director and set in Oslo, the narrative is also analyzed in terms of cultural elements, such as Scandinavian cultural traits, individualistic versus collectivistic values, and the distinctions between narrow and broad socialization in emerging adulthood. Through the protagonist’s gaze, the womanhood, marriage, and parenthood interpreted and explained within the framework of relevant psychological and sociological theories.
