The Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Leisure and Recreation: A Systematic Literature Review

Öz

As artificial intelligence has become more widely used in practice, it has gradually attracted more attention in the literature, leading to studies in various academic fields. Although artificial intelligence is one of the most widely used technological tools today, the number of studies examining the use of this technology in the field of leisure and recreation is limited. This study aims to address this gap by systematically reviewing the existing literature and characterizing its general publication trends and key research characteristics through descriptive bibliometric analysis. To this end, 5 databases were examined, resulting in 42 studies, and 8 articles directly related to artificial intelligence in the field of leisure and recreation were included in the study. A total of 8 analytical dimensions have been identified within the scope of the research questions. In conclusion, although artificial intelligence is widely used in many disciplines, it was found that studies conducted in the field of leisure and recreation are quite limited and do not cover all subfields of the field.
