Meningitis is the inflammation of the meninges, identified by an abnormal number of white blood cells in cerebrospinal fluid. The acute meningitis syndrome may be caused by a wide variety of infectious agents and may also be a manifestation of noninfectious diseases. Group G streptococcus is now recognized as a pathogen and has been reported to cause severe infections, including meningitis. A 34-year-old male patient having parotid gland malignant mixed tumor with brain metastasis had chemotherapy and radiotherapy after surgical treatment. Group G streptococcal meningitis developed in this patient thereafter. Key words: Group G streptococci, meningitis, metastatic parotid gland tumor

Menenjit, beyin omurilik sıvısında anormal beyaz küre sayısı ile seyreden beyin zarlarının inflamasyonudur. Akut menenjit sendro- muna çeşitli infeksiyon ajanları neden olabilir. Noninfeksiyöz has­talıklar grubu da aynı tabloyu oluşturabilir. G grubu streptokokun menenjit te dahil olmak üzere, ciddi infeksiyonlara sebep olduğu ra­por edilmekte ve patojen olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Bu vakada; cer­rahi tedavi sonrası kemoterapi ve radyoterapi almış, beyin metastazı olan, parotis malign mikst tümörlü 34 yaşındaki erkek hastada geli­şen G grubu streptokok menenjit olgusu sunulmuştur.
