Career Futures Inventory (CFI): The Examination of Psychometric Properties in Turkish Sample

Öz

The purpose of this study was to provide initial results on the adaptation and validation of the Career Futures Inventory (CFI) to Turkish language The study participants consist of 555 college students whose participated from Ankara University (n=384, % 69.19) and Samsun 19 Mayıs University (n=171; % 30.81). In order to examine the psychometric properties of the scale that was developed for evaluate the positive career planning attitudes and consists of three subscales referred to career adaptability (CA), career optimism (CO) and perceived knowledge (PK), item and factor analysis were used. Results from a Cronbach alfa correlation, item analysis and confirmatory factor analysis in a sample 555 undergraduates confirmed original three subscales for Turkish version: Career Adaptability (CA), Career Optimism (CO) and Perceived Knowledge (PK). The internal consistency values were found for CA, CO, PK and total as 0.83, 0.82, 0.62 and 0.88. In addition confirmatory factor analysis and concurrent validity studies were used to test the validity of scale. These analyses revealed that convergent validity of scale high and positive career planning attitudes correlates with active and positive coping abilities. This article suggests that Career Futures Inventory (CFI) is a useful tool for career counseling practices for Turkish culture.

Kariyer Geleceği Ölçeği (KARGEL):Türk Örneklemi İçin Psikometrik Özelliklerinin İncelenmesi

Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı, bireylerde pozitif kariyer planlama tutumlarını değerlendirmek amacıyla Rottinghaus, Day ve Borgen (2005) tarafından geliştirilen Kariyer Geleceği Ölçeği (KARGEL)’nin Türk örneklemindeki psikometrik özelliklerini incelemektir. Ölçek, kariyer uyumluluğu (KU), kariyer iyimserliği (Kİ) ve iş piyasalarına ilişkin algılanan bilgi (AB) adı verilen üç alt boyuttan ve 25 maddeden oluşmaktadır. Çalışmaya Ankara Üniversitesi (n=384, % 69.19) ve Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi’nde (n=171; % 30.81) lisans eğitimi alan 555 öğrenci katılmıştır. Ölçeğin psikometrik özelliklerini inceleyebilmek amacıyla iç tutarlılık, madde ve faktör analizi ile ölçüt bağıntı geçerliği çalışmaları yapılmıştır. Ölçeğin iç tutarlılık analizleri sonucu elde edilen değerler KU için 0.83 Kİ için 0.82, AB alt boyutu için 0.62 ve toplamda 0.88 bulunarak ölçeğin yeterli güvenirlik düzeylerine sahip olduğu görülmüştür. Yapılan madde ayırt ediciliği ve doğrulayıcı faktör analizi sonuçları, ölçeğin orijinal üç faktörlü yapısının Türk örneklemi için uygun olduğunu göstermiştir. Bunlara ek olarak ölçeğin geçerlik düzeyini kontrol etmek amacıyla yapılan ölçüt bağıntı korelasyon analizleri, ölçeğin çalışma grubunda yeterli değerlere sahip olduğunu ve pozitif kariyer planlama tutumlarının, aktif ve olumlu başa çıkma becerileri ile pozitif yönde ilişkili olduğunu göstermiştir. Bu anlamda ölçeğin Türk örneklem grubu için kariyer psikolojik danışmanlığı uygulamalarında kullanılabilecek geçerli ve güvenilir bir araç olduğu düşünülmektedir.
