EBEVEYNLERİN 3-6 YAŞ ÇOCUKLARI İÇİN KİTAP TERCİH ÖLÇEĞİ’NİN GELİŞTİRİLMESİ GEÇERLİK VE GÜVENİRLİK ÇALIŞMASI

Öz

Bu araştırmanın amacı, 3-6 (37-72 ay) yaş arasında çocuğu olan ebeveynlerin kitap seçme tercihini belirlemeye yönelik özgün ölçek geliştirmek ve ilgili ölçeğin geçerlik ve güvenirlik çalışmasını yapmaktır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 3-6 yaş arasında çocuğu olan 320 ebeveyn oluşturmaktadır. Ölçek beşli likert tipinde derecelendirilerek geliştirilmiştir. Ebeveynlerin kitap seçme tercihini belirlemeye yönelik geliştirilen ölçeğin güvenirlik ve geçerliğine kanıt sunmak amacıyla kapsam geçerliği ve açımlayıcı faktör analizi işlemleri yapılmıştır. Açımlayıcı Faktör analizi işleminde Temel Eksenler Analizi yönteminden yararlanılmıştır. Kapsam geçerliliği için 10 uzman görüşüne başvurulmuştur. Uzmanlardan gelen görüşler doğrultusunda madde havuzuna ilişkin düzenlemeler yapılmıştır. Temel Eksenler analizi işlemi yapıldıktan sonra ölçeğin 8 faktörlü (Aile ve Öğretmen Önerileri, Yakın Çevrenin Önerileri, Popülerlik/Tanınmışlık, Ücret, Dış Yapı, Tema ve Konu, Kahramanlar, Dil ve Anlatım) ve 49 maddeden oluşan nihai yapısı ortaya çıkmıştır. Ölçeğin toplam varyansın %53’ünü açıkladığı saptanmıştır. Ölçeğin alt faktörlerinin güvenirlik katsayıları 0,64-0,90 arasında değişmektedir. Ölçekten elde edilen geçerlik ve güvenirlik analizi sonuçları, ölçeğin ebeveynlerin kitap seçme tercihlerini belirlemede kullanılabilir nitelikte geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olduğu söylenebilir.

PARENTS BOOK PREFERENCE SCALE FOR THEIR CHILDREN AGED 3-6 YEARS (37-72 MONTHS): A STUDY OF VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY

Abstract

The aim of the present study is to develop a scale to determine the book preference of parents for their children between the ages of 3-6 (37-72 months), and to conduct the validity and reliability processes for the scale. The study group of the research consists of 320 parents with children between the ages of 3-6. The scale is graded on a 5-point Likert-type. Content validity and exploratory factor analyzes were performed to provide evidence for the reliability and validity of the scale developed to determine the book preference of parents. Principal Axis Analysis method was employed in the process of exploratory factor analysis. To ensure content validity, 10 experts were consulted for expert opinion. In line with the expert opinions, the item pool was reviewed and revised. Upon performing the Principal Axis Analysis, the final form of the scale consisting of 8 factors (Family and Teacher Suggestions, Suggestions of the Immediate Circle, Popularity/Recognition, Price, External Structure, Theme and Subject, Heroes, Language and Narration) and 49 items was created. It was found that the scale explained 53% of the total variance. The reliability coefficients of the sub-factors of the scale ranged from 0.64 to 0.90. The results of the validity and reliability analysis revealed that the scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used to determine the book preference of parents regarding selecting books for their children
