EVALUATION OF COMPUTER EDUCATION AND INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGIES STUDENTS’ SELECTION CAUSES OF THEIR DEPARTMENT: THE CASE OF TRAKYA UNIVERSITY

Choosing the profession of an individual in society is an important step and this step is especially worthy of notice. Conscious choosing the profession has significance for in terms of his life and future of the nation and society. When the member is happy at what s/he does and where s/he works, it makes his/ her productivity and performance of his or her work better, which means the society along with the environment is happy as well. The aim of this study is to investigate the reasons of choosing of this profession of those students who studied at Computer and Instructional Technologies (CEIT) department. The study group is composed of the 178 students who are studying in CEIT the spring term of 2013-2014 academic year at Trakya University Faculty of Education. In this research, the survey which consists of thirty items included reasons of choosing their departments, was used as a data collection tool. The descriptive statistics were used to analyse the data. Also in this research, semi-structured interviews were made to support quantitative data and qualitative data were analyzed by descriptive analysis approach. According to the findings, the students are not affected by their families, friends and environments while choosing this department. This research shows us that students like teaching profession but they choose the department because of college entrance points and they would prefer the other teaching departments by way of the economic reasons or they would want other jobs especially in department of health sector instead of CEIT

BİLGİSAYAR VE ÖĞRETİM TEKNOLOJİLERİ EĞİTİMİ BÖLÜMÜNDE ÖĞRENİM GÖREN ÖĞRENCİLERİN BÖLÜMLERİNİ SEÇME NEDENLERİNİN İNCELENMESİ: TRAKYA ÜNİVERSİTESİ ÖRNEĞİ
Öz
Toplumda bir bireyin meslek seçimi, önemli ve dikkat edilmesi gereken bir aşamadır. Meslek seçiminin, bireyin hem kendi hayatı hem de milletin ve toplumun geleceği açısından bilinçli bir şekilde yapılması önem taşımaktadır. Çünkü bireyin mesleğinde mutlu olması ve işini severek yapması, üretkenlik ve performans üzerinde olumlu etki yaratarak, içinde yaşadığı toplumun da mutlu olması anlamına gelmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, Bilgisayar ve Öğretim Teknolojileri Eğitimi (BÖTE) Bölümünde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin, bölümü seçme nedenlerinin incelenmesidir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu; 2013-2014 öğretim yılı bahar döneminde Trakya Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi BÖTE bölümünde öğrenim görmekte olan 178 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak 30 maddeden oluşan “BÖTE bölümünde okuyan öğrencilerin bölümlerini seçme nedenlerine ilişkin görüşleri” anketi kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde betimsel istatistiklerden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırmada ayrıca nicel verileri desteklemek amacıyla yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yapılmış ve nitel veriler betimsel analiz yaklaşımına göre analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre öğrencilerin bu bölümü seçmelerinde aile, arkadaş ve çevrelerinden etkilenmedikleri ortaya çıkmıştır. Araştırmada ayrıca öğrencilerin öğretmenlik mesleğini sevdikleri fakat bu bölümü tercih etmelerinde esas olarak üniversite giriş puanlarının bu bölüm için yeterli olduğu için öğrenim gördükleri ortaya çıkmıştır. Yapılan görüşmelerde BÖTE bölümü yerine ekonomik sebeplerden dolayı öğretmen atamasının fazla olduğu öğretmenlik alanlarının ve ya iş imkânı olan meslekleri özellikle de sağlık sektörü ile ilgili meslekleri öncelikli tercih ettikleri görülmüştür
