A STUDY OF PERFECTIONISM LEVELS OF 6th, 7th AND 8th GRADE GIFTED STUDENTS

Abstract

In this study, positive and negative perfectionism characteristics of 181, 6-7-8th grade gifted students were investigated accordind to some variables. The design of the research is descriptive survey study. In order to collect data. Positive Negative Perfectionism Scale (Kırdök, 2004) and personal information form were used. In research, to analyze the data, independent sample t-test and ANOVA were used for parametric distributions. In cases which ANOVA analysis is significant, for homogeneous analysis LSD test; otherwise Tamhane’s T2- test, for non-parametric distribution Kruskal Wallis Htest test was used. According to the findings of the research, female students' level of positive perfectionism seemed to be higher than male students (p < .05). In negative perfectionism, it is found that gender is not significant factor (p > .05). According to findings about perfectionism age and grade, it is found that as age and grade level decrease, positive perfectionism increase (p < .001). Accordingly, as age and grade level increase, negative perfectionism increase (p < .01). According to findings about perfectionism and parent education level, it is found that, mother education level is not significant in positive and negative perfectionism (p > .05). Father education level is insignificant in positive perfectionism but significant in negative perfectionism (p > .05). Further discussions were made and some suggestions were given.

6, 7 VE 8. SINIF ÜSTÜN YETENEKLİ ÖĞRENCİLERİN MÜKEMMELİYETÇİLİK DÜZEYLERİNİN BELİRLENMESİ

Öz

İlişkisel tarama modelinde gerçekleştirilen bu araştırmada üstün yetenekli 6, 7 ve 8. sınıf 181 öğrencinin mükemmeliyetçilik düzeylerinin bazı değişkenlere göre incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Öğrencilerin olumlu ve olumsuz mükemmeliyetçilik düzeylerini ölçmek için Kırdök (2004) tarafından geliştirilen Olumlu ve Olumsuz Mükemmeliyetçilik Ölçeği,sosyo-demografik bilgileri toplamak için araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen Kişisel Bilgi Formu kullanılmıştır.Araştırmada toplanan veriler SPSS 15.0 paket programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda, cinsiyete göre kız öğrencilerin olumlu mükemmeliyetçilik düzeylerinin farklılaştığı, bu farklılığın kız öğrencilerin lehine olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca yaş ve sınıf düzeyi küçüldükçe olumlu mükemmeliyetçilik düzeyinin arttığı, yaş ve sınıf düzeyi büyüdükçe olumsuz mükemmeliyetçilik düzeyinin arttığı saptanmıştır. Hem olumlu mükemmeliyetçilik hem de olumsuz mükemmeliyetçilik düzeyinde anne eğitim düzeyinin farklılaşma yaratmadığı, baba eğitim düzeyinin ise sadece olumlu mükemmeliyetçilik düzeyinde farklılaşma yaratmadığı belirlenmiştir. Son olarak üstün yeteneki öğrencilerin olumlu mükemmelliyetçilikleri geliştirmek üzere bazı önerilerde bulunulmuştur
