GIOVANNI BATTISTA PERGOLESI AND G MAJOR FLUTE CONCERTO

Abstract

In Baroque Period, with developments in the flute, composers have begun to use this instrument as a solo instrument and composing many sonata and concertos for flute. Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (1710-1736) one of the most talented musicians of the Baroque Period, has composed very significant works (pieces) into his very short life for 26 years. Before his death, Pergolesi had an important reputation in his own country, Italy. After his death, his works were performed in many concert halls mainly Paris and Europe. There are two flute concertos in the G Major and D Major under the name of Pergolesi in flute literature. Pergolesi’s G Major flute concerto is often take part in flute training programs and concerts programs. In this study, it is briefly mentioned about the life of Giovanni Battista Pergolesi and the G Major flute concerto. This study will contribute to Turkish literature because of the limited resources available in Turkish about Pergolesi and his G Major flute concerto.

GİOVANNİ BATTİSTA PERGOLESİ VE SOL MAJÖR FLÜT KONÇERTOSU

Öz

Barok dönemde flütteki gelişmelerle birlikte besteciler bu çalgıyı solo çalgı olarak kullanmaya başlamışlar, flüt için pek çok sonat ve konçertolar bestelemişlerdir. Barok dönemin en yetenekli müzisyenleri arasında sayılan Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (1710-1736), 26 yıllık kısacık yaşamında birçok önemli eser bestelemiştir. Ölümünden önce kendi ülkesi olan İtalya’da önemli bir üne sahiptir. Ölümünden sonra eserleri başta Paris olmak üzere Avrupa’nın pek çok konser salonlarında seslendirilmiştir. Flüt literatüründe Pergolesi’nin adını taşıyan Sol Majör ve Re Majör tonlarında iki flüt konçertosu bulunmaktadır. Pergolesi’nin Sol Majör flüt konçertosu flüt eğitim programlarında ve konserlerde sıkça yer almaktadır. Bu çalışmada, kısaca Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’nin hayatından ve Sol Majör Flüt Konçertosundan bahsedilmiştir. Bu çalışma ile Pergolesi ve özellikle Sol Majör Flüt Konçertosu hakkında neredeyse yok denecek kadar az olan Türkçe literatüre katkı sağlanacağı düşünülmektedir.
