Öz

Agenesis of paranasal sinuses is an uncommon finding mainly seen in the frontal and maxillary sinuses. Agenesis of sphenoid sinuses is an extremely rare condition. In this article, we present an 18-year-old female patient suffering from headache and nasal obstruction without any skeletal or cranial anomalies. Axial, coronal and sagittal computed tomography revealed absent sphenoid sinuses. Surgeons should be aware of sphenoid sinus agenesis, when transsphenoidal hypophysectomy and endoscopic sinus surgery are scheduled, in particular.

Sfenoid sinüs yokluğu

Öz

Paranazal sinüslerin yokluğu, çoğunlukla frontal ve maksiller sinüslerde görülen seyrek bir bulgudur. Sfenoid sinüs yoklu- ğu çok nadir görülen bir durumdur. Bu yazıda, herhangi bir iskelet ya da kraniyal anomalisi olmayan, burun tıkanıklığı ve baş ağrısı ile başvuran 18 yaşında bir kadın hasta sunuldu. Aksiyel, koronal ve sagital planda çekilen bilgisayarlı tomog- rafide sfenoid sinüs yokluğu saptandı. Cerrahların, özellikle transsfenoidal hipofizektomi ve endoskopik sinüs cerrahisi planlanan hastalarda, sfenoid sinüs yokluğu durumundan haberdar olmaları gereklidir
