Abstract

The most intense Turkish presence in the Balkans lives in Bulgaria. Nearly one million Turks have many problems with education, culture and social life. In this study, it is aimed to examine in detail the concept of bilingualism, the characteristics of bilingualism of Turkish children in Bulgaria and their reflections on their education. In this study, in which observation, it was found that Turkish children in Bulgaria could not acquire both Turkish and Bulgarian interview and survey methods were used as a way of collecting data at a standard level and this situation negatively affected their academic achievement. The Turkish course taught as an elective status in Bulgaria was not chosen by Turkish parents living in cities (Kardzhali, Shumnu et al.) and that the families of children living in villages generally chose this course. At the end of the research, various suggestions were made to correct this situation.
