Tourist guides in Turkey, play a key role in the promotion of destinations and the
experiences of tourists. Also tourist guides are important field workers. As tourist
guidance is a labor-intensive profession that requires physical exertion, tourist guides face
many difficulties. The aim of this study is to determine the regional challenges
encountered by members of Canakkale Regional Tourist Guides' Chamber (CARO) in
Canakkale. In this study, single case study, which is a qualitative research design, was
used. Data was collected from 13 participants through a semi-structured interview form,
which was determined as data collection tool. As a result of the study, it is seen that the
guides in the region mostly face problems such as leak guidance, field guidance, base
wage and lack of inspection, lack of facilities sink and toilet, car parking, rest area, and
lack of density control.
