Yıl 2025, Cilt: 5 Sayı: 2, 201 - 234, 31.07.2025

Öz

This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the use and potential impact of Virtual Reality technology in health tourism. While health tourism involves international travel for treatment purposes, Virtual Reality technology is emerging as an effective tool in areas such as treatment simulation, rehabilitation applications and patient education. The use of Virtual Reality in health tourism has the potential to improve the patient’s experience before, during and after treatment and to facilitate access to healthcare services. It also offers significant opportunities for innovative applications such as remote healthcare services and virtual hospital tours. However, the main barriers to the use of Virtual Reality technology in this area include technical and ethical challenges such as data security, cost and accessibility. In the future, as Virtual Reality technology continues to develop, its impact on health tourism is expected to increase. This article presents a literature review on the current applications and future trends of Virtual Reality and provides strategic recommendations for the health tourism sector.
