Biocide Usage in Plastic Products

Abstract

People’s demand of improving their life quality caused to the term of hygiene become popular and increased the tendency to use more reliable and healthy products. This tendency makes the continuous developments in the properties of the materials used in manufactured goods compulsory. It is possible to create anti-bacterial plastic products by adding biocidal additives to plastic materials which have a wide-range of application in the areas such as health (medicine), food and many other industries. Thus, the organisms such as bacteries, fungis and algae which affect both human health and plastic material negatively can be inhibited. However, the applications of antibacterial plastic products are limited in our country. For this reason, this study focuses on the varieties of biocid materials added to plastic products and intoducing the anti-bacterial plastic products used by consumers.
