The Endodontic Treatment of Extraoral Sinus Tract: A Case Report

Yıl 2022, Cilt: 1 Sayı: 2, 69 - 74, 23.09.2022

Öz

If a tooth with infected pulp and necrosis is not treated, the infection may spread intraoral and extraoral regions. These tooth origin sinus tracts are pathological formations, which their opening to the intraoral or extraoral region depends on the region of the tooth and the localization of the perforation in the cortical bone caused by the inflammation. In particular, extraoral sinus tract and skin lesions are confused with different formations, and as a result, wrong treatments can be applied to the patients. This case report includes the 3-month follow-up of a case of extraoral sinus tract, which was found to originate from the mandibular tooth and drained from the cheek area, after root canal treatment.
