The difficulties faced by bilingual Turkish-French children living in France in Turkish and French language acquisition

Abstract

The difficulties faced by the children of Turkish families who arrived in France with the migration of workers in language learning have now evolved in its 50th year, and in this regard, many articles and theses have been written on the extent to which these problems are encountered. . At the point where we are today, it has been observed that bilingual Turkish children have difficulty in acquiring the language of listening, speaking, reading and writing. In this study, a review of the literature was performed using the traditional scanning method. Purpose of the article: To discuss the difficulties encountered by bilingual children of Turkish origin living in France in the acquisition of Turkish and French, and to examine the effects of bilingualism on language acquisition. For this reason, in the first chapter, bilingualism and its definitions were examined. Then, different structures of bilingualism are explained. Next, the effects of bilingualism on the language skills of Turkish children of primary school age living in France were examined.
