Changes in Jump, Speed, and Agility Performance Before and After Eight Weeks of Combined Strength, Sprint, Plyometric, and Change-of-Direction Training in Youth Volleyball Players

Öz

The aim of this study is to examine the effects of an 8-week combined strength and sprint training program on body composition, jump, speed, and agility in youth volleyball players. Thirty athletes competing in regional leagues (U14: n = 15, U16: n = 15; 15 males, 15 females) performed two training sessions per week in addition to club practices. The study employed a single-group pre–post design. Body fat percentage, lean mass, countermovement jump (CMJ), single-leg jump, 10 m and 30 m sprint, and the T-Test were evaluated. Data were analyzed with paired t-tests, and effect sizes were calculated using Cohen’s d. After eight weeks, body fat percentage decreased by 1.2–1.5%, lean mass increased by 1.2–1.3 kg, CMJ height increased by 2.7–3.5 cm, 10 m sprint times decreased by 0.03–0.04 s, and T-Test times decreased by 0.15–0.35 s (p < 0.05). The results indicate that combined strength and sprint training has the potential to improve acceleration, agility, and jump performance, particularly in youth volleyball players.
